16 days before the third period of the Online Poker World Championship ends the participants from all corners of the planet keep on adding units to their individual marks looking for a higher spot which could give them one real chance to play for the World Title and the $10.000 sponsorship deal.

The bottom of the poker ranking still show players with 0 points, but the spots require a better effort starting on the 50th which is currently owned by Matt “Worktopay” Richards, who has collected over 12 points so far and still has a long road ahead given the best player of the Team North America counts more than 200.
The South American team members are not showing their real potential yet and they haven’t even qualified for the Period Final. There are still several days to prove they stand a real challenge and represent their countries with pride inside this international online poker competition. Two Colombians are involved in the race: David A.K.A “DhernandezQ” and Jorgelu “Pirryz94” on the 38th and 47th positions respectively. Whether they get powerful results or fade away in the darkness of defeat depends on the efforts they make from now on. Are they going to make it at least to the Period Final qualified spots?

The Europeans seem to be the strongest of the championship with players disseminated all over the ranking; some are totally amazing like the current leader Eleanor “Ellie91” from the United Kingdom and her compatriot “Kevster102” who own the first two places of the general classification; followed by the fastest grinder of all time at the OPWC: “OPWCMaltaman” has the audience used to see his name on top of the list from the beginning of every single period and his astounding results and incredible speed are feared by many of the rivals and force the challengers to play their best game to take him down.
The Australians have set a very nice mark this phase with two poker players on Top 10. “oMUZZAo” recovered the best spot of his continental team during the last hours after beating, with a potent effort, the long and fruitful streak performed by “EnglishTim” who despite losing the privileged spot can still change the final result before the deadline. The Australian grinders have crossed the 200 mark and they could end up taking command of the competition if the results are favorable enough.

89 players are currently on the race for the Online Poker World Title but only 35 are eligible to play the juicy Period Final which has given away $1000 in two events. The coveted spots are not hard to achieve; proof of that is the last one can be taken by a player who collects at least 32 units. Will there be any candidates to play for the extra money prizes at the OPWC? Only time will tell if there’s going to be any drastic changes before the closing date is reached.
