The Online Poker World Championship News team had a short interview with the Australian Star of the moment inside the competition: Mario “oMUZZAo” Tomic, who has made it one more time to the highest positions of his continental squad, but this time he also took the crown of the general poker ranking. He kindly answered our questions and this is what he said.
Hi Muzza, sincere congratulations for another great run in the online poker championship and thank you very much for giving us the chance to have a few words with you. Please let the OPWC players and fans out there know how does it feel to be already qualified to the Online Poker World Championship Main Event?
It feels awesome to have won back to back for Australia, and claim my seat in the Team!.. Awesome!
Your scores by the end of each period have significantly increased, what do you think of that?
Yeah, I have been playing a bit better lately, and the drawing of the cards has been coming my way, so I have been Lucky!
How have you managed to keep on improving, what has changed in you to be always going further?
I think in Period 2, I played a bit harder to gain my Main Event seat and then period 3 I played more for fun; I was very lucky most of the time! Good cards help a lot! lol
Do you have any special stories or anecdotes about your experience at the PKR tables since you started hitting the top spots of the poker ranking?
No, not really. I chose more often to play in the 10-seater Double-ups on PKR, instead of my usual 6-seaters; it's kind of funny when the paid players start going ALL-IN every hand towards the end of the games in the 10-seater tournaments!
What are your objectives in the OPWC now? Have they changed since the first time we asked you the same question?
I like playing in the OPWC, it's a lot of fun, I would also love to win a poker sponsorship in the Main Event and hopefully make some Ca$h!!!
How do you feel about the competitors? Any special cases you want to mention?
I respect all the players who have joined the OPWC, you never know who is going to be victorious, I think there is a healthy group of players in the competition which makes it exciting to be part of!
If you were asked to pick the player who is more likely to win the OPWC with his team, who would you choose and why?
I would choose oMUZZAo (myself) because MUZZA SMASH!!!...that's why! hehehe
How has your poker life changed, your feelings towards the game and your own believes (do you feel your mind has become stronger to play better, has your style become more dangerous) since you joined the OPWC?
I have learned to play a bit more seriously towards the end of my 200 games in OPWC, so I think my concentration and choices have been slightly defined for the better!
Is there any player you admire inside the OPWC? If yes, what’s the reason?
I admire the players who have been consistent since period 1, they are always in the hunt for the top spots; I think they are good poker players for being around the top positions in all periods thus far!... good luck to them all!
Do you have any other comments for the more than 32.000 fans that follow the Online Poker World Championship?
I would just like to say, congratulations to all players who have entered this poker championship, it is a fair draw card, I wish you all the best luck in your games, and thanks to OPWC for giving us a chance to play in this game.
